How to use this asset. Think of it as more of a notebook and each form fills out an index card of the 'hard facts' of a character. So you enter the primary points of your character, then once it is recorded in a file, json or inserted into a character generator, it can be fine tuned by adding descriptors. For instance, there is a "Religion" list; once upon a time it was not uncommon to ask even the most sinful person what denomination they were. Now the list lets you select one or many, but it does not tell the whole truth. This is were, as you enter it into a generator the data is augmented with.. say "backsliden protestant'' or "mouth-service catholic". You can try out character generation below at Character Maker Try adding the 'static' facts, then fine tune them... big difference! |
I am a little proud of the character making pages. It started as a means to add citizens for the sim, then I wasted time transposing characters from other platforms. So I made the importer, then came adding family members, that starts the information for the others. It is growing and being adapted as it is used. |
Access ID |
The Access ID is provided to those that would like to add characters to the sim or build out characters for their own AI platform characters. Most platfroms have a build function. This is a simpler raw type data, not inclusive of any platform. |
Age |
The Age of the character. This is the most basic part of the character making settings. Though the background that assembles the info submitited will pick a random age between 20-40 if the user does not enter a value. The user should at minimum enter an age. Since the sim is set to start in 1985, the age entered will provide the proper year of birth. |
DOB/zodiac |
This Selection will override the dob/ZODIAC selction. Use the drop down digits to assemble the birthday. As mentioned in the Age info, the year is calculated as the form is submitted. If no 'Month' 'day' is entered the background process will pick both at random, then combine with the Year. |
dob/ZODIAC |
the User may want their character to be a particular Zodiac Sign. This is for those not familair with the various month/day that determine Zodiac alignment. Select the desired Zodiac sign and the page will do the rest. Upon submission the server will randomize a date in that specific zodiac sign. However if a specific day in a zodiac is wanted, user will need to refer to charts and use the M-D to the left. Use the drop down digits to assemble the birthday. As mentioned in the Age info, the year is calculated as the form is submitted. If no 'Month' 'day' is entered the background process will pick both at random, then combine with the Year. |
Employer |
The drop down list is always upto date. This provides an error free submission of this information. If the sim is missing a business or type, simply enter the Business name and type into either the story or other details field. It will be seen and maybe added. If your simply wanting to change the employer for the json chat formatted files, there are 'override' fields under the details form boxes. |
Build |
Select this to identify the physical size of the character. This, like age should be entered. This value makes it possible to determine other factors of the character, should the user not be wholly familiar with other factors of the character. |
Weight |
No text need be entered to identify the 'lb', it will be joined as the submission is made. If you choose not to enter a weight for the character, an Ideal body weight will be calculated based on their height. This in turn will also run the BMI calcualtion. The result will be based on the selction made within the "build" drop down list. To sum it up, if unsure what your character should weight, don't input any value into this field, the form will do it for you. |
Languages |
A long list of just about any language from around the world. If none is selected, then 'english US' is auto added. a user may select several languages. |
Story Details |
This is a free form line for the major details of the character. Details could range from place of birth, how they dress, attitudes, friends to major life events. |
Address |
The address is the cell location of the residence. The visable value is the default entry point if the user has no access to the layout of the area. The second value is also an available option, as it too is an apartment complex. The 3rd selction is a hotel, this is one entry point for occassional characters. The Excel worksheet allows cells formatted in such a way that they can be used much like a real estate agents listings. In the worksheet the neighborhoods are laid out and home cells formatted. This allows the export function to find and list all open units. Snappy, If I say so myself ;) To prevent a mishap, once a value is selected and submitted, it is removed from the available list. This prevents users the 'sale' to multiple citizens. I am working on a 'family routine'. This is not included in any platform exports. |
Vehicles |
This is self explanatory, Do keep in mind the year of the simulation is 1985, vehicles should be made before or upto this year. No entry is neccessary. |
Other Details |
These are other subtle details that may help the character dev in AI to be a little more substantative. Put Family members, friends etc in here. |
Earnings |
This is self explanatory, Do keep in mind the year of the simulation is 1985. If the year is a ways back, remember there is a huge difference in income and what can be bought. |
Criminal Element |
There are aspects to life that we can't escape and crime is it! The sim will have various criminal activites occuring, in addition to the sleuthing sub-module for solving crimes! |
Character Traits |
These are drop down lists and in each list multiple selections can be made. The lists are re-worked and I update them from time to time, as I remember to add something. If you know a source, let me know! |
Importers |
The importers are essentially 'reformatters'. A json can not just be uploaded and inserted into the db. They are a tool to provide an editable workspace. Instead of copying and pasting information into a build form, the json is loaded and the data can be moved around and augmented, then saved to the pool. The recompiled json can then be downloaded into another platform. I do plan on adding a few other chat platforms to the export/save as menu. |
Overrides |
The overrides are input fields that allow a user to build a character for the sim and input alternative info that will appear in their platform type export. For instance, A user may select that the citizen works at "some business" in the sim, and enter in the alt field another employer. I want to provide the user the ability to both build out 'someone' usable in the sim, and a result that fits their needs. |
Relationships |
Add characters and prep files for the making of family members, children etc. Simply add the FIRST NAME of each person, child or parent. Currently it will not handle untraditional family last names, So spouses will have the same last names, as will children. Now the names can, of course be changed in the csv/excel data. If your character is going to be an adoptee, simply enter that tid-bit in one of the 'Details' free-form blocks.The sim will eventually 'pair' couples up and start making digital babies. The first implimentation is a simple drop down list of relationship then the field to the right is for input of the first name only. When entering the info for the primary citizen, entering the spouse first name and childrens first names [separated by coma's i.e. Name, Name2, Name3]. This will write basic files, that can be worked on later. When working a citizen that is of school age or 'at home' the same basic files will be made, to make the parents. Do rememeber, when the selection is "Spouse" only the first name in the field will be used. Also keep in mind, when the field is used as "Parents" [Father/Mother] the names must be in that order. Again, in the case you want a Non-Trad family; it is no slight that the field is set up that way.. It's just the simplest way to keep the data in the place it is required, I am working on the swapping of role names, but it is not a priority. |

As stated on the form page, the character should be made on the pc site first [a bit ass backwards if you want to build first] This was added so I build the character on the site, then I can share and copy the url to add to the form. |
File Use |
Can you download the file after submitting character[s]? Sure! Do so pretty soon after the last submission, normally I only add a character or 2 a week so there is no danger of it getting purged after import for several days. to get the file simply add '/files/citizen_import.csv' after the root url [without the apostrophes]. I have just finished up the ability to download the generated characters in 2 formats, the perchance and C.AI format files for import. As of today though, I do not see a direct 'character import' function anywhere on Character.AI create page. The is the firefox C.AI extension. It displays a button to import character. |
JSON Files |
The new format of perchance AI is going to be incorporated into the export functions. The json files for each character are made available as soon as they have written. |
NSFW Use: While the characters I input have no un-civil 'nsfw' content, the platform that is suggested to use is considered 'nsfw'. In so far as the sim is concerned, the only aspect of a character trait I would ask for restraint on is violent characters. The traits list has most criminal types including the worst, so do not include graphic descriptions of violence in the Story or Other Details. For instance, I'm ok with "Murdered 14 people in violent acts over 2 years", but we don't need more details.. Now for those that like it saucy, I myself do not find sex at all offensive in any of its glorious forms, it is after all the means by which we all came to be or for others just plain fun! But some phoney religious or 'Victorian' types do, so If you really want your character to be 'un-available' [and only as of 06-2024], it is possible to script the character to be un-flinching and dismissive to certain activities. Keep in mind though, on the perchance platform a user can download and save their exchange. Depending on the editted page that the user loads, it is possible to undo things, in all cases a user can simply edit the bots previous replies to change their direction. However there are chat platforms that DO block NSFW bot replies for those that may want a super safe tutor for the kids.. |
